Hey chil'ens,
We have moved from B&B to Hotel to Hostel and are moving into an apartment tomorrow. I'm still catiously opomistic about the siutuation here. Still no work, but we are moving into a more permenant place tomorrow. We found a weekly situation in a really really nice swany apartment ( 3 minutes walk from city center) where the tenants are going home to China for 3 months, and we can have the place that long if we need to. But we don't HAVE to if Matt gets work across the country or something. So that's a move in the right direction :)
Being homeless like this is suprisingly fun. I knew I could live out of a duffel bag, I just never tried it for this long before... One thing that could use improvement though, is the bathroom situation in the hostle. I should probably complain....I'm just too non-confrontational....We've been here (at this hostle) for five days, and I think I managed to actually stand in the shower twice because its that nasty. Its all about the sponge baths... Hope that isn't too nasty to be telling you :) Its kinda like a road trip situation where you never know where you'll get your next home cooked meal or warm shower, but you always can make due. ADVENTURE....I was planning on just imposing on Matt's old roomie from Colorado, since he still lives here, but it turns out, he's on the wrong side of the country....way to far to go for a shower. I've been contemplating asking our old B&B lady to let us come shower there, but I don't want her to question us on the squaller we've been living in for the past week...And neither should all of you! We get a big beautifull CLEAN bathroom all to ourselves tomorrow (do a little dance)!
We are moving away from the hall we've been attending tomorrow, so we'll be attending Memorial in a different hall from where we started. But, I'm sure they'll be as welcoming as the first cong. was too. Always at home in the congregation...Pioneering is so on the back burner right now. That bites, but we are in a wierd position right now.
Matt's job prospects keep shifting, but we continue to have recruiters intereested in him and telling us that he's sure to get a job, but it'll take time. I'm still not as worried as I probably should be, but oh well. And people (mostly strangers we talk to while having dinner and a pint at the local pub) keep offering to help us get under-the-table work for cash (I know a guy who...) strictly on the down low. I guess that's how most people get started here....At least it gives me a good oportunity to tell them about my "volunteer work" and gives me a little doorway to tell them more. Its extremely easy to get conversations started here. All you have to do is say hi, and you'll be talking for hours.
Thats that.
I hear the dinner bell ringing....until next time
Morning,
okay, afternoon.....We slept in a little....We have just moved into a new location and had a hard time falling asleep in a somewhat noisey environment. Downstairs from us their was a lonely guy from Italy singing along at the top of his voice to Madonna hits. Kinda felt bad for the guy....
So here we are still in the job/apartment hunt. Still taking time to work out the bugs. Now that the biggest holiday of the Irish year has passed us by, I think people will start to get back to normal a bit. It was INSANE here. Matt and I went out for some food in Dublin City Saturday night and went right back home again with some take out food because the vibe in the air was that something was just waiting to go wrong. And the next days tallies proved us right. 8 people either drowned, were hit by cars, or else hit something in their cars and died. But the next day was much calmer and a lot more fun.....Good relaxing weekend
